Invoice numbers follow the financial year and stay unique, even across your team's devices.

Typos caught early

GSTINs are checked before you issue, so a wrong number doesn't reach your client.

Private by design

No account and no server. Your invoices and client details never leave this device.

GST invoice format: what a tax invoice must include

Every invoice made here carries these fields automatically. Use this as a checklist for any GST bill.

  1. Supplier details

Your business name, address and GSTIN.

  2. Invoice number

A consecutive number of up to 16 characters, unique per financial year.

  3. Invoice date

The date the invoice is issued.

  4. Recipient details

Name, address and GSTIN of a registered buyer. For unregistered buyers, name and address are needed when the value is ₹50,000 or more.

  5. Place of supply

State name and code. It decides whether CGST + SGST or IGST applies.

  6. Item lines

Description, HSN/SAC code, quantity, unit, rate and taxable value after discount.

  7. Tax breakup

Rate and amount of CGST and SGST, or IGST, shown rate-wise.

  8. Totals

Invoice total in figures and in words, plus round-off if any.

  9. Reverse charge

Whether tax is payable on reverse charge.

  10. Signature

Signature or digital signature of the supplier or an authorised signatory.

CGST + SGST or IGST?

Same state as the place of supply: split the rate into CGST and SGST (18% becomes 9% + 9%). Different state: charge the full rate as IGST. The generator decides this from the GSTINs, so you don't have to.

Invoice numbering rules

Up to 16 characters, consecutive, and unique for each financial year (April to March). Example: AXIS/26-27/A0014.

Not registered for GST?

You can still send a proper invoice without GST lines. Set Tax to "No tax" and it prints a clean invoice with your details and total.

General information based on Rule 46 of the CGST Rules, not tax advice. Check with your CA for your specific case.

Frequently asked questions

Is this invoice generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on the number of invoices.

Where is my invoice data stored?

Only in your browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. A different browser or device starts empty, so keep using the same browser for your invoices.

Is the invoice GST-compliant?

It prints the fields a tax invoice needs under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules: supplier and recipient GSTIN, a unique invoice number per financial year, date, place of supply, HSN/SAC codes, taxable value, rate-wise CGST/SGST or IGST, the reverse-charge declaration and the amount in words. It also checks GSTINs for typos before issuing.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

If the supplier and the place of supply are in the same state, the GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state), for example 9% + 9% for an 18% item. If they are in different states, the full rate is charged as IGST, for example 18% IGST. The generator picks the right one from the GSTINs and the place of supply.

What should a GST invoice number look like?

It must be a consecutive serial number of up to 16 characters, using letters, digits, hyphens or slashes, and unique for each financial year (April to March). This tool numbers invoices like AXIS/26-27/A0014 and starts a new series every 1 April.

Do I need HSN or SAC codes on my invoice?

HSN codes (goods) and SAC codes (services) are required on B2B tax invoices: at least 4 digits if your annual turnover is up to ₹5 crore, and 6 digits above that. You can add them per item in the HSN/SAC column.

I am not GST-registered. Can I still use it?

Yes. Leave the GSTIN empty and set Tax to "No tax". You get a clean invoice without GST lines.

Can I make export invoices or invoices under LUT?

Yes. Choose "Export under LUT (0%)" or "SEZ under LUT (0%)" as the supply type and the invoice is zero-rated with the required LUT declaration. Exports with IGST payment are supported too.

What is reverse charge and how is it shown?

Under reverse charge the recipient pays the GST to the government instead of the supplier. Tick "Reverse charge" and the invoice shows the tax amount, states "Tax payable on reverse charge: Yes", and the total you collect is the taxable value only.

Does it generate e-invoices (IRN)?

No. Businesses with annual turnover above ₹5 crore must report B2B invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal to get an IRN and QR code. This tool creates regular PDF tax invoices and does not connect to the portal.

How do I download the invoice as a PDF?

Click "Issue & download PDF", then choose "Save as PDF" in the print window. On iPhone: Share → Print → pinch out on the preview → Share → Save to Files.

Can my client pay directly from the invoice?

Add your UPI ID once and every invoice carries a scan-to-pay QR code for the exact amount, which opens in GPay, PhonePe, Paytm or any UPI app.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, it runs in any modern mobile browser. Editing is more comfortable on a tablet or computer because the invoice is A4-sized.
